Paolo Pedercini is a game developer and artist who teaches experimental game design, creative coding and animation. Born in Italy, he migrated to the United States in 2007 to study integrated media arts. His artistic practice deals with the relationship between electronic entertainment and ideology. Working under the name ‘molleindustria’, he produces video games addressing social issues such as environmental justice (McDonald’s video game), religion (Faith Fighter) and labour and alienation (To Build a Better Mousetrap). Paolo will talk about his insights on the medium and his upcoming work concerning an eco-socialist, ‘reasonable’ utopia.
Paolo Pedercini will be interviewed by Other Futures’ games curator Yannick de Jong, who investigates how video games enforce processes of empathy and identification.
