Author, editor and educator Ellen van Neerven is of Mununjali (a Yugambeh language group) and Dutch descent. Moving between places and cultures, they write fiction, poetry and non-fiction about Australia’s unreconciled past and precarious present, offering a futuristic imagining of a people whose existence is under threat. Their characters are caught between a desire for freedom and a sense of belonging.

They are currently co-editing Unlimited Futures, an upcoming collection of Blak + Black Visionary and Speculative fiction, with Sudanese multilingual writer Rafeif Ismail.
